Our School
As part of the Paramus Public Schools, East Brook Middle School serves 5th through 8th grade students. We strive to educate the whole child through a student-centered approach. Our responsive programs develop a student’s intellectual, creative, and physical potential through both skill mastery and problem solving.
Our staff works tirelessly to create a positive learning environment that encourages students to try new things, develop healthy relationship, and respect self and others. To help foster this, we establish Interdisciplinary teams for each grade level that share the same schedule, help provide student guidance, and meet regularly to coordinate learning activities.
Special Programming
In addition to preparing students for mastery in the core content areas, we proudly offer students at East Brook a variety of additional learning opportunities.
Accelerated Math
This program is available for qualifying students in grades six and seven. Eighth graders may participate in Algebra College Prep and/or Algebra Honors for high school credit.
Advisory
We offer our whole-school advisory program bi-monthly to all EBMS students. Every-other Friday morning, students spend 30 minutes with their advisory group discussing issues and current events relevant to their lives and our community.
ESL
Our English as a Second Language program helps nonnative-speaking students master English in both verbal and written contexts.
Fine Arts and Technology
Our fine arts and technology departments are first class! We offer classes in music, band, orchestra, theatre, and a variety of art disciplines, while regularly employing our performance auditorium for concerts and musicals. Our technology program offers a fully-integrated library and media center, multiple online research subscriptions for students, two computer labs, and a video/computer-graphics lab.
Foreign Language
Our foreign language department proudly offers a progressive Spanish curriculum to all 5th–7th graders. Students in eighth grade may choose between German, Italian, or Spanish.
Gifted & Talented
As part of our special education program, we offer gifted and talented services to identified students. And while not every student qualifies for these tailored services, we do offer multiple enrichment experiences for every student at East Brook.
Special Education
Our special education program meets the individual academic and developmental needs of identified students through a resource center, academic support, and collaborative instruction.
The Philadelphia Experience
The Philadelphia Experience for eighth-grade students is a culmination of their American history course. Students travel to Philadelphia to see and experience all the national landmarks from the Revolutionary War period.
